Opening of a new food store

There is saying that the world's most unsatisfied hunger is the hunger for appreciation. Today, I want to assure you that here at our new Superstore we will feed both your physical appetites and that hunger for appreciation. After all without you, our customers, there would be no need for our store. So we, and, let's be honest about this, our bankers will be truly grateful for your custom.

We intend to show our thankfulness by providing you with top class produce, excellent service and a staff fully trained to meet all your needs. Shopping should be a pleasurable activity and we are going to do everything possible to ensure you enjoy your visits to us. Our store may have the latest in technology but we are still old fashioned enough to believe that the customer is always right.

That is why we have asked you, the experts, for what you wanted from your store. For many months now members of our management team have been meeting representatives of the local community. Some of your suggestions surprised us a little but we listened and learned.

We expected, for instance, that you would want wide aisles so that you could shop in comfort. We knew too that you would want a crèche for small children. We appreciated the fact that you would want organically produced foods at acceptable prices. We took it for granted that you would want a restaurant in which to relax on shopping days. We were happy too to provide sweet free zones and adequate parking facilities.

We didn't expect you to ask us for a space where older children could watch short videos while you shopped. We didn't expect either, that you would appreciate help with parking and reversing at busy times. We were very happy to employ staff who will help you choose the ideal meals for a special dinner or party or who will advise you on meals based on seasonable foods. We are happy too to meet your suggestion that some check outs are solely for the use of credit card customers. We intend to fly in the face of usual custom and have our fresh bread on your way out so that it doesn't get crushed in your trolley during shopping.

None of these things are earth shatteringly important but little things do make a difference. So we will always have staff to help you pack your bags and to take your purchases to your car if you wish. We will ensure that there are no long queues at the check-outs and we will ensure too that our bank machines always work. Above all, though, our management won't live in an ivory tower. They will be right here on the shop floor ensuring that your shopping needs are met.

I have not spoken of prices and perhaps you are worried that all of these facilities will make our prices soar. I assure you that this will not be the case. Good value will always be a top priority at our store. We hope, you see, that our approach to your needs will ensure so many loyal customers that bulk buying will keep those prices down. We are also determined to source many special offers so that there will always be something new here at Superstore. Above all, we will liase with all of the local associations and organizations to ensure that our notice boards keep you informed about what is happening locally. Superstore is now your local store and part of your community. We hope, in the years to come, that we will become intrinsically linked with local activities and events.

We will, of course, have on line shopping facilities and a delivery service. We know they will prove useful to many of our busy customers. However, I hope that you won't use them all the time. We want your shopping day to be what it used to be long ago, a pleasant and sociable occasion.
